Sensor & Instrumentation Show Birmingham UK | andrew faulkner

Cranial-8’s Kim Sartorius and Andrew Faulkner made the trip across the pond to attend this year’s Sensor & Instrumentation show for Test, Measurement and Control instrumentation show at the NEC Birmingham England (26th & 27th September).

The show was well supported by both exhibitors and attendees.  The primary purpose of this visit was to monitor new sensor trends in Europe, assess likely product fit with the Cranial-8 customer base and identify potential principles. There were over 80 market leading suppliers showcasing their products and services, and over 25 seminar sessions covering a range of topics from ioT to fibre optic sensors.

To list just a few of the booths visited by Cranial-8, Bronkhurst (thermal mass flow meters and controllers), Conax Technologies (custom temperature sensors), Emerson (automation solutions), Hubs Control (pressure and flow), Industrial Interface (wireless pressure and temperature transmitters), Keller (pressure sensors), SIKA (flow, level, temperature and pressure), Yokogawa (measurement & control) and Low Power Radio Solutions (Low Power RF modules).

The show was co-located with two other shows, and our free ticket provided us with access to these shows too.  The 3D show, in particular, was well worth a visit and had a real buzz with many interesting products on show.

One thing that caught our eye was a couple of suppliers providing metal and x-ray detectable products targeting food processing, medical markets.  Coming from an electronic component background we never knew this was a thing -but it makes sense. Across many industries there is an ever-present risk of product contamination from foreign objects. If not detected, they can cause damage to equipment, result in product recalls, and worst case, cause serious injury. Such industries include (human and animal) food, beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, textiles and many others. One industry leader present at the show was Detectamet.  Selected detectable products on display included; tape-measures, storage try’s, hammers/mallets, measuring cups, spatula/scraper.

If you wish to learn more about the company’s (and products) visited by Cranial-8 we would be more than happy to discuss.
